Highly acclaimed Australian author Bruce Pascoe has this to say of Julia’s work: Julia Prendergast is a real writer who writes about real life. There was a time when real life was to be sneered at, a trifle undeserving of an artist's attention, fortunately life keeps insisting on our regard. Prendergast gives it that. She will be in the top echelon of Australian writers
Julia’s theoretical work focuses the work of the unconscious in narrative composition: examples have been published by TEXT (AU) and New Writing: The International Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing (UK). Julia is a Lecturer in Writing and Literature at Swinburne University in Melbourne (AU), and Deputy Chair of the Australasian Association of Writing Programs (AAWP).
