Jake Ephros is a graduate student at American University working toward an M.A. in Philosophy and Social Policy. He developed an appreciation of writing through reading philosophy. Paying attention to the aesthetics of philosophical writing, and often the lack thereof, he integrates playful and creative writing into academic work.
Focusing on existentialist ethics, phenomenology, and political philosophy, Jake's writing deals with the problems of culture, identity, and solidarity. He is beginning to step into more explicitly creative writing for the first time. Inspired by a range of writers from Jacques Derrida to María Lugones, and his mother, Katie Singer, he looks forward to dealing with philosophical issues in the narrative style.
