Carmelinda Scian emigrated from Portugal in 1969 with her mother and brother to join her father in Toronto. She has a BA and an English M.A. from University of Toronto and began pursuing creative-writing in 2012 through U of T’s School of Continuing Studies. She won the short-fiction Malahat Review’s Open Season Awards (2013), the Toronto Star’s Short Story contest (2015), and was Runner-up for the U of T Magazine Short Story contest (2015). Her story “Yellow-Watch” was Long-listed for the Fiddlehead Short Story contest (2017) and will be published in their upcoming Fall issue. She lives in Toronto with her husband.
