Dulce Maria Cardoso (Trás-os-Montes, 1964) published her first novel, Campo de Sangue in 2001, and was immediately distinguished by the critics with Grande Prémio Acontece de Romance. In 2005, Os Meus Sentimentos got the European Union Prize for Literature, and her following novel, O Chão dos Pardais (2009) was awarded the Prémio Pen Club. She has also published two short story anthologies — Até Nós (2008) and Tudo são histórias de amor (2014). Her work has been translated into several languages and is published in twenty countries around the world. In 2012, she was the recipient of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) in recognition of her significant contributions to literature.
