6. Licia Canton - Workshop: “YES YOU CAN: tips for promoting your stories”

You've written a story, you've published a book, or you've read at a public event. You want more people to get to know about your writing, but you don't have a budget to hire a professional publicist. The greatest key to your visibility is in your own hands. We will look at ways to bring attention to your writing. We will consider how to become more visible as a writer.

Licia Canton’sAlmond Wine and Fertility (2008) was published in Italy as Vino alla mandorla e fertilità (2015). She is a literary translator and founding editor-in-chief of Accenti Magazine. She has published anthologies of creative and critical writing, including Conspicuous Accents (2014) and Writing Cultural Difference (2015). She has been a guest author and keynote speaker at universities and literary events in Canada, Italy, France, Hungary, Austria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She mentors emerging writers through the Quebec Writers' Federation. A member of the Writers’ Union of Canada, she has served on the board of the Quebec Writers’ Federation and is past-president of the Association of Italian Canadian Writers. She holds a Ph.D. from Université de Montréal and an M.A. from McGill University. She lives in Montreal with her husband and three children.
